Today was the launch of the new Dave Matthews Band album. This typically isn't that noteworthy but considering I purchase about 3 CD's a year it came with some interesting implications. First off listening to the album in my car was a nice relaxing time. Definitely a different sound than the previous albums, but still enjoyable.
Naturally my computer is unable to play it correctly. First is some huge DRM screen that I must accept or the computer spits the CD back out. Fine. But then every track has a nice echo to it. Some songs are recorded to be a little edgy, but it was a completely different sound than what was coming from my car's CD player.
So, does someone want to explain to me again why playing a CD on my computer is supposed to be difficult or nigh impossible? Thank you DRM for making the world a place where you have to copy an album in order to listen to it on your PC.
Behold, the healing power of irony.
