Two major milestones this week. First is that the RIAA has broken the 10,000 person barrier for lawsuits of file-sharing. Way to go! So on top of selling bad music at bloated prices now they are making more money off of lawsuits. On an average of $3000 per settlement (from news reports on several technology news sites) they have made $30,000,000 in court.
If they're prosecuting people for copyright infringement where is the morality for settling on a dollar figure? Does that mean if I embezzle money everything becomes okay if I pay it back with interest? Is embezzlement an unsigned loan now? It's all very confusing.
Second is that soon I'll have an article running (probably every 2 weeks) on another site. These will be a little more formal than the posts you've seen here. Also they'll be more polished and longer than the long rants that occasionally get dropped here too. Working on getting that done and some really extra annoying problem at work has prevented regular posting here for a bit. Apologies to anyone who feels short-changed.
